Celebrating its 14th year, Culture Night has grown to become an essential day in the Irish cultural and social calendar. For the flagship event a live televised concert, the client wanted to elevate the experience while widening its reach online.
Furthermore, at another location in Dublin, a second major experience for the public was pencilled for us to deliver as well as several ancillary events. The challenge was all the greater because all five events were to happen simultaneously.
THE SOLUTIONPreviously held in Dublin Castle, our client wanted a brand new experience in a new venue. Producing a concert in Collins Barracks, (believed to be the longest serving army base in the world) doesn’t come without challenges. Its history is deeply important for Irish people therefore its preservation is paramount, this is largely why an event of this magnitude hadn’t happened there before.
Meanwhile 2 kilometres away in, and 15mins after we wentlive in Collins Barracks, our team were on Dame St, producing an aerial show never seen before on the streets of Dublin. Suspended 70 metres above the road, Aerial Cirque performed with music by composer Peter Power and visuals by Bulgarian artist Petko Panchev. The one of a kind spectacle wowed twenty thousand spectators at the site of the new Central Plaza on Dame Street.
An unforgettable night for 20,000 people plus a broadcast audience across TV, radio and live to a new online audience. Our team managed everything from artists to road closures, pedestrianizing the Dame Street and College Green areas and supporting the performances Dublin’s own Aslan and Dublin Gospel Choir.
