This year’s Ploughing Championships returned to the small village of Ratheniska, Co. Laois – right beside Stradbally the home of Electric Picnic!
The Ploughing Championships is Europe’s largest outdoor exhibition and agricultural trade show and has expanded to occupy 700 acres over the years. The first inter-county ploughing contest took place as a result of an argument between two friends who each believed that their own respective counties had the best ploughmen. The ensuing competition took place on Monday 16 February 1931 in a field in Coursetown, Athy.
Davis Events were managing two exhibitions on site this year for the Labour Party and the Health & Safety Authority. We created strong exterior visual branding across both marquees enabling people to easily identify them amidst the massive 1,100 exhibitors.
Within the Labour Party marquee, we continued the strong branding by installing red carpet and used branded pull ups to animate the space. A relaxed lounge area was used both on stage and for public use encouraging visitors to sit and engage with Labour staff and enjoy their free cup of tea!
The HSA marquee was a hive of activity spread across two areas – the Farm Safety Village and the marquee. Daily demonstrations spreading awareness of farming dangers took place in the Farm Safety Village. Within the marquee the animated shell scheme was divided between various farm safety topics. The Irish Heart Foundation provided free blood pressure check ups and children were kept entertained with the interactive games and colouring corner.
Over the course of three days, both marquees attracted over 25,000 visitors reaching our target audience and successfully engaging consumers.
