The Event Brief
Our client Early Career Awards approached us to collaborate with them on their second annual Irish Early Career Awards 2017. We previously worked on this event in 2016 and were delighted at the opportunity to do it all over again. The awards celebrate excellence and recognise the achievements of young professionals in Ireland, and ultimately, reward innovation, best practice and outstanding achievement across a broad range of sectors. Therefore, the client wanted to create a special and atmospheric night for all attendees and most importantly the nominees on the night. These awards are one of its only kind within Ireland so it was important to create an event to remember!
The Awards have grown in size and scale since the inaugural event in 2016, and so we needed a new venue that could accommodate our growing numbers. The Mansion House was chosen as the venue of choice, due to its city centre location and capacity. Getting sponsorship and contacting potential nominees directly was also a major part to the event planning process. We also worked alongside Independent News and Media as our media partner to create a buzz online and increase awareness of the event through print advertising. All of these aspects worked side by side to bring the awards together as a success on the night.
Creativity & Innovations
The client, The Independent and ourselves advertised across many of our social media platforms such as Twitter, Instagram and Facebook to create a buzz around the awards and ultimately get people talking about the event.
Call for Nominations:
To select the best young talent Ireland had to offer to these awards the team put out a call for nominations across Twitter, email marketing, in print media and other social media platforms to encourage individuals to either nominate themselves for an award or a colleague. This resulted in getting some really strong candidates entering and then some going on to be winners on the night.
On the Night
To make the night an overall success some of the following were put in place:
We worked closely with the venue to design a lighting theme that tied-in with our band colours of red, purple and orange and created an impact for guests as they entered the venue.
RTE’s Des Cahill was MC at the awards again this year and the Minister for Finance Paschal Donoghue was guest speaker. Guests enjoyed a champagne reception on arrival followed by an impressive three-course meal. Overall, there were 13 winners on the nights across a range of categories include PR, Law, Accounting, Banking, HR and many more! The overall winner on the night was Michael Redmond from Abbvie who also awarded Engineering Professional of the Year.
“It was a real credit to you and Davis events team once again. And we highly impressed with the beautiful, attentive, and professional work led by Nikki, Paul and the Davis team.
We have received great feedback from attendees and much of it is down to you guys.
Thanks again for a great evening!”
